The Fender Leslie 16 and Vibratone are two variations on the same concept, bringing true Leslie-style modulation to guitar players.
Designed as a passive cabinet, it relies on an external amp and uses a rotating drum to create lush, organ-like chorale and tremolo effects that are unmistakable in both studio and live settings. All functions operate exactly as they should—the motor, crossover, and speed switching are smooth and responsive. As with many Vibratone units, the slow speed is more subtle than the fast setting, adding a subtle sense of depth to your amp’s sound. The original black footswitch is included, along with the proper connections for both your amp and an external cabinet. This piece has remained in very good condition, with light signs of previous wear, and some subtle liquid staining on the rear.
Buyers should note that an external speaker must be connected if you wish to switch the effect off. The footswitch bypasses the Vibratone by rerouting the signal to the other cabinet, rather than stopping the rotation. Running this setup without an extension speaker connected can result in damage to your amp’s output transformer..
