This Deluxe Reverb is a transition-era example, built just after the Blackface models gave way to the early Silverface design. Along with the “drip-edge” trim, it features the black vertical line on the faceplate, marking it as one of the earliest transition pieces. Because of this, these amps typically share identical parts with their Blackface counterparts, making them a great value for what is essentially the same amp. It should be noted that this particular amp has had the original Blue Molded coupling caps replaced with modern equivalents, though the tone has remained strong and true through the change.
Internally, the power cord and electrolytic caps have been replaced. Aside from the aforementioned coupling caps, the rest of the preamp remains original, with the exception of one replaced resistor on the bass pot. A nice bonus on this example is the presence of a 1967 Fender-labeled Jensen C8261 speaker, which many players prefer over the standard Oxfords. There is moderate pitting on the faceplate, though everything remains clearly legible. The tolex shows some blemishes here and there but still presents very well overall. In the end, this is an excellent-sounding Drip-Edge Deluxe Reverb.
