This amp was given the Les Paul by Leo Fender, along with a Nocaster, in the hopes of trying to achieve an endorsement deal. While Les accepted the pieces, he had to decline the endorsement, as he had already signed a contract with Gibson. Les never played the guitar, but he did use the amp for a time, and even added a "Gibson" logo, while removing the Fender badging. A neat feature is the presence of a "Dual Professional" tube chart, although the top control panel indicates it as being a Super.
Over the years he proceeded to tinker with it, even building some unknown circuit inside, before subsequently converting it for use as a passive studio monitor, which is the current configuration.
This piece was bought personally from Les Paul, along with the original black prototype guitar we sold recently. Despite having no power transformer or active components for amplification it does have speakers, or can just serve as a wonderful piece of historical charm to honor the legendary man!
