The Fender Showman is a powerful and great-value amp—essentially a head version of a Fender Twin, minus the reverb. It features the full AB763 circuit and has seen a small amount of modification on the Normal channel, while the Vibrato channel remains true to stock values. It shows moderate signs of previous wear but still presents well overall.
Internally, the electrolytic caps have been replaced, along with the screen grid resistors and power-tube grid stoppers. The phase inverter coupling caps have been updated with modern equivalents, as have the original ceramic caps. Most of the preamp plate resistors have also been replaced with modern metal-film types. On the Normal channel, the tone stack has been modified to Marshall-style values, resulting in a slight increase in gain on that side. Thankfully, the original “Blue Molded” Ajax coupling caps are still present on the Vibrato channel, preserving that authentic Blackface sound. Please see circuit photos for further details.
