The Deluxe Reverb holds legendary status here in Music City, thanks to its ideal balance of utility, compact size, and superb tone. It’s often considered the ultimate gigging amp—not too loud, not too quiet, and always right at home on stage. This amp has seen light gigging use over the years, and the front grill cloth has been replaced. The original speaker has also been swapped for a Mojotone British Vintage Series BV-30V.
Internally, the power cord and electrolytic caps have been replaced, along with the power resistors. The preamp has seen a fair number of components updated to modern equivalents, including metal-film plate resistors and most of the coupling caps. On the Normal channel, the tone stack parts have been changed to Marshall-style values, resulting in a slight gain boost on that side. Thankfully, the “Blue Molded” Ajax coupling caps remain in the Vibrato channel’s tone stack, preserving the core of that classic AB763 Blackface sound. See circuit pictures for further details.
