The Fender Showman is a powerful, great-value amp, essentially the head version of a Twin Reverb, minus the reverb. The “single” Showman uses an 8-ohm output paired with a single 15" JBL D130F speaker. It should be noted that the cabinet has been recovered. The amp features the full AB763 circuit and remains original where it counts, delivering a fantastic Blackface tone.
Internally, the power cord and electrolytic caps have been replaced, along with the power resistors. Two caps in the phase inverter section have also been changed, while the plate resistors were replaced with carbon film equivalents for lower noise. Otherwise, the preamp remains original, including most of the coveted “Blue Molded” Ajax caps that are intrinsic to the Blackface sound. Please see the circuit photos for further details.
