This is one of the last Blonde-era Bassman amps ever produced, right before the switch to the AA864 Blackface circuit. It features the classic “Tuxedo” styling, with blonde tolex and a black control panel. Unlike some amps from that transitional period, this is a
true Blonde-era circuit—the 6G6-C—even though the tube chart is labeled 6G6-B. Many players consider this the ideal version of the 6G6 Bassman, and this particular example is truly excellent.
The condition is absolutely superb—about as clean as a 60-year-old piece of gear can reasonably be while still seeing light use. Internally, it’s practically untouched, with the exception of the filter/bias caps, which were replaced after eventually failing. The speakers have been re-coned with modern OEM equivalent ribbed cones, by Freeman-Tuell Speaker Service. All of the original caps are included with the amp, along with an original Fender catalog. Truly, this is a pristine and phenomenal-sounding example of a ’64 Bassman!
Despite being fully functional the buyer should note this amp has long expired electrolytic capacitors, and original 2-prong cord. Should someone need prolonged or gigging use from this piece then servicing would be advised.
