This amp was built by FEIC in July of 1964, which is commonly referred to as Pre-CBS. While people are generally less familiar with the Blackface-era Concert, these amps deliver an excellent 40-watt punch and are essentially a non-reverb Super. When cranked they can exude a Bassman-like quality, sharing a similar format and transformer size. This particular example is in very good condition, showing only minor signs of previous wear, though the upper back panel is missing.
Internally, the power cord, electrolytic caps, and tremolo optocoupler have been replaced. Otherwise, the amp remains original, including all of the coveted “Blue Molded” Ajax coupling caps. The original CTS Alnico speakers project in a unique and lively way, helping this rare piece stand apart within the mid-’60s Fender lineup.
