All of the 1950s-era Fender amps hold legendary status, and the Harvard brings a unique voice to the Tweed lineup. Often thought of as a single-channel Tweed Deluxe, it stands apart thanks to its use of a 6AT6/6AV6 tube in the first gain stage, giving it a distinctive tonal character.
Although it’s housed in a non-original cabinet, you’d hardly know it from the outside, thanks to an expert relic job by the late Peter Mather. A 12" baffle has also been added and fitted with a Celestion Alnico Gold—a modern classic in its own right. Internally, the power cord, electrolytic caps, and two power resistors have been replaced. The coupling caps, along with 2 plate resistors have also been updated with modern equivalents, likely due to noise/leakage issues—please see circuit photos for details.
With its original Triad transformers and a great-sounding speaker, this is an excellent player-grade Tweed Harvard!
