Universally regarded as the favorite among Fender’s mid-sized amps, the Vibrolux Reverb has a distinct character that sets it apart. With a 35-watt 6L6 power section, it's able to keep up with the band without the added size and weight of larger models. This example is in great condition, showing only minor signs of previous wear. The original reverb tank and cables have been replaced with modern equivalents, along with the upper back panel. Also, the original power transformer was re-wound by Heyboer, and performs identically in terms of voltage.
Internally, the power cord, electrolytic caps, and power resistors have been replaced. In the phase inverter section, a few resistors have been updated with modern carbon comp equivalents, and two coupling caps have also been changed. Two pots have been replaced as well. Thankfully, all of the original “Blue Molded” coupling caps remain intact, preserving the authentic Blackface sound we know and love! See circuit photos for further details.
The speakers have been replaced with a pair of Jensen C10Qs from 1965, and were reconed by Orange County Speaker. Overall, this is a great example that captures everything we love about a classic ’60s Vibrolux.
