This amp has been re-covered in a green tweed-like material, giving it a delightfully funky charm. All things considered, the re-covering was well done and has held up nicely over the years. The 5C5 circuit features octal preamp tubes, which provide a strong midrange bark that sets it apart from the later 9-pin designs. It’s been fitted with a General Transformers power transformer from the 1950s, and the voltages match up surprisingly well with the original Triad spec. The original Triad 1846 output transformer is still present, and the amp sounds fantastic.
Internally, the power cord and electrolytic caps have been replaced, along with a couple of power resistors. Three of the original coupling caps have been swapped out, likely due to leakage. Otherwise, the circuit remains original, including all of the preamp resistors. Please see the pictures for more details.
