This Vibroverb was built in November of 1963, making it one of the earliest Blackface amps we've encountered. This places it only a few months removed from the 6G16 Brownface Vibroverb, with the updated 1x15 format and AA763 circuit. Paired with the legendary JBL D130F (re-coned), these amps have a commanding sonic footprint that sets them apart from Fender's other mid-sized models equipped with 10" and 12" speakers.

Famously used by Stevie Ray Vaughan, the Vibroverb became an integral part of his signature sound. This example has a metal "H&H Music" badge on the top and is in very good condition, showing only light wear to the grill cloth and tolex. The reverb tank has been swapped with a modern replacement, and sounds excellent.

Internally, the power cord and electrolytic caps have been replaced, along with the power tube and screen grid resistors. A pair of plate resistors and the ceramic cap in the phase inverter have also been changed. The tremolo optocoupler has been replaced as well, and an anti-ticking cap has been added. Otherwise, the preamp remains original, including all of the coveted Blue Molded Ajax coupling caps that are intrinsic to the Blackface sound. Please see circuit photos and specs for further details. Overall, this is a great early example of an iconic Pre-CBS amp!
