This is one of the first-generation tweed Deluxes, dubbed the "TV Front" for its resemblance to a 1950s television. The octal preamp tubes deliver a wonderfully rich, midrange-focused sound that sets these early circuits apart from the later 9-pin designs. The original speaker has been replaced with an era-correct 1959 Jensen P12Q, which offers roughly 10 watts more power handling than the typical P12R. It's a fantastic pairing that complements the amp very well. As part of the speaker swap, the original Triad 1839 output transformer was relocated to the chassis.
Internally, the power cord and electrolytic caps have been replaced. The original wax-paper coupling capacitors have also been updated, as they are prone to failure with age. Please see the circuit photos for further details. These early TV Front Deluxes offer a charming and great-sounding alternative to the more expensive narrow-panel models that followed later in the decade.
