The Tweed-era Champ is renowned for its unmistakable charm, having long served as a studio secret weapon for musicians seeking a compact, focused sound. With a reputation built on simplicity and warmth, the 5F1 circuit remains a classic example of Fender's approach to elegant, low-wattage design. In a world where smaller, lower-powered amps are gaining popularity, the Champ stands as the embodiment of stripped-down, functional brilliance.
This particular example wears all the classic character you'd hope to see from a well-loved Tweed Champ, with a gritty sound to match. The back panel doesn't quite share the same level of aging as the rest of the amp, though it is still an authentically from the Tweed era.
Internally, the power cord, electrolytic caps, bias resistor, power resistor, and volume pot have all been replaced. A screen grid, and grid stopper resistor were both added to the power tube as well. Otherwise, the amp remains original - Please see the circuit photos for further details.
