This 1969 Super Reverb spent most of its life at SIR Los Angeles, as indicated by the various stencils on the amp. It was likely used for countless rehearsals and recordings by bands you know and love— feel free to let your imagination run wild! The amp shows noticeable wear throughout, with some oxidization on the metal parts. There are a couple of extra hole drilled on the rear of the chassis, though they don't serve any function. Otherwise, It has held up well over the years, all things considered.
Although amps from 1969 typically feature drip-edge aesthetics, this one does not. And while the tube chart reads “AB763,” it’s actually a transitional-era circuit—often referred to as the AB763 Hybrid—with a bias blend circuit and a slightly different phase inverter. Most players wouldn’t notice much difference, and it performs comparably to earlier blackface models. Please see the circuit photos for more details.
Internally, the power cord and electrolytic caps have been replaced, but the amp remains otherwise stock. A cap was added to the tremolo circuit to eliminate the common ticking sound. The reverb tank has been swapped for a 2012 Accutronics unit. The current speakers are P10R Jensens from 1999, which sound excellent. The original speakers can be included, although they are in rough shape and missing their cones completely.
