This 1945 Martin D-28 is a well-loved and well-played example from one of the most sought-after eras of steel-string guitar building. It features a natural finish with two top patches—a small through-patch and a larger feathered patch—where significant play wear was addressed, with overspray surrounding the repaired areas. The neck has been reset, it’s been refretted, and the bridge saddle has been replaced, all contributing to its excellent playability. A strap button has been installed on the neck heel, and the back shows heavy belt buckle rash, telling the story of decades of honest use. Despite the cosmetic wear, it remains structurally sound and musically inspiring—an incredible-sounding wartime-era D-28 that’s ready for the next chapter. Comes with an awesome Calton HSC.
