When it comes to sound, this 1944 D-28 is simply as good as it gets! The guitar has remarkable projection with the tone that can only come from a a golden aged 28! The early tapered bracing, non-scalloped, on this example demonstrates that both styles have their own special quality. The Brazilian Rosewood on the back and sides are to die for and the Adirondack spruce top is a beautiful tight grain. This 1944 is in great condition having just had a fresh neck reset, re-fret, replica bridge (recent as well) and a hairline crack repairs to the top. Most importantly, the maple bridge plate appears original, though once removed and re-glued. There is typical play wear throughout, but you can tell it had responsible ownership throughout its life. That in mind, it has the potential to live another full 80 years. Formerly owned by Hank Williams Jr.
Comes in a Collings case.
