When it comes to sound, this 1944 D-28 is simply as good as it gets! The guitar has remarkable projection with the tone that can only come from a a golden aged 28! The early tapered bracing, non-scalloped, on this example demonstrates that both styles have their own special quality. The Brazilian Rosewood on the back and sides are to die for and the Adirondack spruce top is a beautiful tight grain. This 1944 is in great condition having just had a fresh neck reset, re-fret, replica bridge (recent as well) and a hairline crack repairs to the top. Most importantly, the maple bridge plate appears original, though once removed and re-glued. There is typical play wear throughout, but you can tell it had responsible ownership throughout its life. That in mind, it has the potential to live another full 80 years. This guitar was a gift from Warner Bros. to Hank Williams Jr. in honor of his incredible body of work, and he owned it (and wrote/performed with it) from 1982 to 2014. The letter of authenticity will be supplied to the buyer of this guitar.
