We all love owner stories here at Carter Vintage. This 1957 Martin D-21 can be traced back to Hal Culpepper of the Dixieland Drifters and is accompanied by a photograph of him playing it new at Ernest Tubb's Recordshop here in Nashville. Hal was a responsible guitar owner and it has survived the past 66 years with little more than a neck reset and bridge reglue. 1957 can have several spruce varieties, but this particular top is an ever faithful tight-grained Sitka. The back and sides are a stable set of straight grained Brazilian Rosewood. With a Brazilian Rosewood bridge and fingerboard, the relatively rare D-21, 325 made in 1957, has more Brazilian Rosewood per square inch than any other Martin model. Less than 3,000 D-21s were made between the initial run from 1956-1969. Hal Culpepper's D-21 is a prime surviving example of this model.

Comes with original hardshell case (signed by Hal Culpepper) and 1950's tooled leather strap
