The 5E9-A Tremolux is the 1x12 big brother to the Vibrolux, and shares many characteristics with other 6V6 Tweed amps. It offers slightly less gain than the 5E3 Deluxe and features a surprisingly rich-sounding tremolo. A factory-wired on/off switch is built into the speed pot, though users should note that it doesn’t completely remove the tremolo from the circuit.
The Tweed covering shows heavy aging, which only adds to its charm. The front baffle board has been replaced, and the grill cloth is a good visual match for the original. The original handle was swapped as well, as is common for Tweed-era amps.
Internally, the power cord and electrolytic caps have been changed, along with one power resistors. A couple of resistors have been changed in the tremolo section, likely to service functionality, but otherwise the preamp is stock. This means all of the original yellow Astrons are still in tact! The Triad transformers are also original, and it has a period appropriate Jensen P12R from 1953.
