This excellent sounding Vibrolux Reverb was built in October of 1964, by Fender Electric Instrument Company.
Universally accepted as the favorite of the "mid-sized" Fender amps, the Vibrolux has a distinct quality that makes it stand out. With a 35-watt 6L6 power section, it can keep up with the band without the added size and weight of larger models. This amp shows moderate gigging wear, with a couple of scrapes on the tolex and faceplate, but is otherwise in good condition. The front grill cloth has been replaced, but the rest of the cabinet remains intact.
The power cord has been changed, along with the electrolytic caps. Most of the plate resistors have been swapped for modern carbon comp equivalents, along with two resistors in the tremolo circuit, while the rest of the circuit remains original. Thankfully, all of the original “Blue Molded” coupling caps are still present, preserving the authentic Blackface sound we know and love. See circuit photos for further details.
The original Pre-CBS Schumacher transformers are still present as well. The speakers have been swapped for Eminence Legend 1058s, which pair very well with this amp. Overall, this is a stellar-sounding player-grade piece that’s original where it counts!
