This is one of the earlier “TV Front” Fender Deluxes, and it remains in very good condition, with minor wear accumulated from over the years. The octal preamp tubes deliver a thick, midrange-forward sound that sets them apart from the later 9-pin designs. This amp has a replaced output transformer, power cable, and electrolytic caps.
Four wax coupling caps were also swapped for the later 1960s “Blue Molded” Ajax types—which many would consider an upgrade. See circuit pictures for further details. These amps offer a charming and great-sounding alternative to the more expensive narrow-panel models from the late ’50s.
