Martin’s Custom Shop takes the understated looks and timeless tone of the D-18 and elevates it with a serious tonal upgrade in the form of Adirondack spruce and sinker mahogany. The mahogany used for these guitars was recovered from Central American rivers after being submerged for over a century. Harvested between the late 1800's and early 1900's, the logs were originally floated downriver, with many sinking along the way. Those same logs were recovered years later and crafted into Custom Shop guitars like this one.
The result is a powerful, dynamic dreadnought with sweet sustain that seems to ring endlessly. This guitar is in great condition, showing only minor signs of previous wear, including a few small indentations and light swirl marks. All in all, it’s a fantastic modern evolution of the iconic Martin sound.
