The Silverface-era Princeton Non-Reverb is a no-frills amp that delivers exceptional tone at a fraction of the cost of its Blackface counterparts. Built in 1969, this amp is still early enough to have carried over the AA964 Blackface circuit, as indicated by the tube chart!
With one less gain stage due to the absence of reverb recovery, this model offers increased headroom and may even push out a bit more power, depending on the individual amp. The Non-Reverb Princeton has been a longtime favorite of Mike Campbell from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, known for its pure, clean tone and natural compression when cranked.
Internally, the power cord has been swapped, along with the bias cap. Some parts have been changed in the V1 side of the preamp, which thankfully are all high quality equivalents, and even feature a Blue Molded .047uf. The rest of the amp is all original, including the electrolytic caps. See circuit pics for further details.
