Description
The Tweed Era Fender Princeton can be thought of as expanded version of the Champ, with a larger cabinet size, and the addition of a tone control. The latter helps fix the single flaw of Tweed Champs, which is how dark they can be, and gives you the option to brighten or darken the sound to your taste. The 5E2 is a less common circuit to find, and has the unique feature of a choke transformer in-line before the B+ voltage. This gives a great compression to the sound, on top of the warm crunch generate by the preamp.
Another nice feature about this Princeton is the original baffle has been cut for a 10" speaker, which greatly expands the frequency range compared to the stock 8" - a big upgrade if sound quality is your focus! Internally, the power cord and electrolytic caps have been changed, along with the Astron coupling caps. Otherwise, all of the original resistors are still present. The worn Tweed look is in full effect here, giving aesthetic charm to match it's great sound.
