The Fender Bassman stands as a pinnacle of 1960s American amplification. From the beginning, Bassmans shared DNA with Marshall amps, and this one easily holds its own against any JTM45 from the same era. The head is in very good condition overall, showing only minor signs of wear and a few blemishes on the corners. The matching 2x12 cabinet is likely from a later era—probably 1969—based on the codes found on the Oxford 12T6 speakers. The front grille cloth appears to have been swapped to better match the blackface aesthetic.
Internally, the power cord has been replaced, along with the screen grid and grid leak resistors for the power tubes. The bias balance circuit has also been reverted to the traditional blackface spec, which is a welcome upgrade. Otherwise, the rest of the preamp remains original, including the famed Blue Molded Ajax coupling caps.
Despite being fully functional the buyer should note this amp has long expired electrolytic capacitors. Should someone need prolonged or gigging use from this piece then servicing would be advised (cap job, etc).
