Produced between 1997 and 2005, the D-40 was designed as an accessible step up from the 28 and 35 models, without reaching the price point of the 41-45 series. Based on the D-28 platform, it features scalloped bracing, a Sitka spruce top, and Indian rosewood back and sides. Notable upgrades include 45-style hexagonal fingerboard inlays and an abalone rosette. Instead of the traditional herringbone purfling, the D-40 opts for ivoroid with black and white purfling, giving it a cleaner, more contemporary aesthetic.
This 2000 model is in exceptional condition for its age, showing minimal signs of wear but offering the rich tone of a well-played, broken-in instrument. With medium action, it plays effortlessly and is stage ready. Includes the original hard case.
