This 1949 Martin D-28, lovingly restored and modified by Baxendale Guitars, presents a unique blend of vintage charm and enhanced playability. Notable attributes include a top replacement with Adirondack spruce, offering a robust and resonant tonal character, and although the bracing is non-scalloped, it still features a rich and articulate sound.
At some point in its history, this guitar was fitted with a trapeze tailpiece, for reasons unknown. It's reasonable to assume this was the reason for the re-top. The neck has been refinished, along with some overspray on various parts of the guitar, done at a different time. Other repair work includes a refret, and a changed bone nut for the sake of maintaining playability. There was also new ebony bridge installed, along with a new bone saddle. Despite the changes this guitar is still a loud and resonant piece, with excellent playability. The rear of the guitar shows some moderate wear, but still looks good for it's age. Included is a newer Guardian hard case.
