We love a guitar that's a little different; if you look closely, you will see that the herringbone trim on this one has an extra line of purfling. It's factory original work and has been known about by scholars of the guitar industry since the early 80s. One theory was that the top was cut a hair narrower all around and this helped fill that space. What we do know is that it is one of the very last herringbone D-28s to be made. This '47 D-28 is remarkably clean, with only a short list of the usual work to keep it in optimal playing condition! We'll get that out of the way first. It's had a neck set, refret, a bridge reglue, top crack reglued below bridge, a replaced saddle, a glued pickguard crack, and one replaced tuner screw. Finish wear and dings are minor, and the neck feels smooth and minimally worn. It plays and feels like a newer guitar, but has the rich, warm, woody voice that only a great old vintage D-28 can have. Whether you're a collector or a serious player looking for your one and only, this is one to snag!

Comes with late 50s/early 60s Martin green lined hardshell case.
