This 2018 Martin Custom Shop D-28 pairs a Sitka Spruce VTS top with wild grain East Indian rosewood back and sides, giving the guitar a broad low end and clear, open response with a little extra visual character in the rosewood set. The Vintage Tone System treatment adds some of the dryness and immediacy players often chase in older Martins, while the Custom Shop build keeps the instrument feeling refined and cleanly executed throughout. The Mod Low Oval neck with Performing Artist taper gives it a modern feel without drifting too far from Martin’s established dreadnought formula, and the ebony fingerboard and bridge keep the attack crisp and articulate. An LR Baggs Anthem VT system is installed for amplified use without altering the guitar’s acoustic character. Cosmetically, this guitar remains in excellent, like new condition.
