By 1957, the D-18 had become one of the cornerstones of Martin’s flattop lineup, finding its way into living rooms, festival grounds, and recording sessions across the country. This example pairs an Adirondack spruce top (a unique spec of some '57 Martins) with mahogany back and sides, a combination that helped establish the model’s enduring identity. Original Kluson tuners remain in place, while the Brazilian rosewood fingerboard and bridge provide a fitting complement to the guitar’s understated appointments.
This guitar has seen regular use over the decades and shows the evidence of a life spent in musicians’ hands. There's pick wear around the guard, scattered top dings, and a repaired back crack on the treble side. It has received a neck reset, refret, and bridge reglue to keep it performing as intended, along with the addition of a strap button. Rather than presenting as a preserved time capsule, this D-18 carries the character of a vintage Martin that has remained an active instrument throughout its life.
Includes vintage hard shell case.
