Description
Twenty Four 000-45s were made in 1936 by the CF Martin Company, and this one is a survivor. This offering is available "AS-IS" due to the need of a new bridge and neck reset; but all technical information is listed in the "Specs" tab. The "45 style appointments cost a significant premium when produced during the height of the depression, so production numbers on these are inherently low. The abalone bound Brazilian Rosewood back and side set exhibits exceptional figure for a straighter/stable orientation. At some point in this guitar's life, it had oversized double (left and right) pickguards installed, as well as a pickup, so one could imagine it was a country music singer's stage instrument. A full dark refinish and other structural abnormalities keeps the body from returning to factory specifications, but the character is certainly there. A replacement neck was installed (likely in the 1980s), for unknown reasons, but it's a comfortable shape and matches the styling of the 1930s decently. 000-45s are rare to find in any condition, perhaps this one checks all the boxes for you!
