This Martin 1934 C3/ 000-42 conversion is the subject of some of the most immaculate luthier work we have ever encountered. What started as a 1934 C-3 archtop in excellent condition, Chris Herbert brought it to new life through a photo documented process in 1998. C-3 archtops were the top of the line for Martin, but make for excellent flat-tops if converted properly. The 24.9" scale length makes it like a "000" and the green abalone inlay to the top and rosette are "42" style. High-end C-3 appointments not found on factory 000-42s include: "M" engraved gold tuners, bound logo inlaid headstock, snowflake fingerboard inlays, and intricate colored wood backstrip. Chris Herbert chose a historically accurate Adirondack top that pairs well with the C-3's figured Brazilian rosewood on the back and sides. It is forward-shifted scalloped X-bracing with a thin maple bridge plate. A vintage correct pickguard, likely using N.O.S. celluloid, was installed and covered by a thin amber nitro lacquer. The playability is excellent thanks to a recent in house refret. We believe this C-3 / 000-42 conversion to be in a league of its own.

Comes in original green velvet-lined case.
