Built in 1968 during Marshall’s legendary “Plexi” era, this slant 4x12 cabinet is a fantastic example of the classic design, complete with the desirable metal handles. The original basketweave grill cloth and Marshall logo have both been replaced, though the cabinet itself has held up well for its age. It shows only light signs of previous use, including some minor scrapes and small tolex tears along the top and side.
The main feature of this cabinet is its speaker complement, with a full set of the famed G12M 20-watt Celestion T1511s from 1968. Three retain their original “102 014” 55Hz Pulsonic cones and date to July of 1968, while the fourth has been reconed with a Waldom-type cone. Finding a late-’60s Marshall cabinet with three original Pulsonic-cone Celestions still intact is no easy task, and the end result is a tremendous-sounding cabinet that would make the perfect complement to a Plexi-era Marshall!
