The 1987 Silver Jubilee was a special-edition amp built to commemorate Marshall’s 50 years in the music industry and 25th year building amplifiers. While specific to the 1987 model year, many were produced into 1988 before Marshall switched back to the traditional black tolex and gold-panel design. These amps occupy a very special place, not only in terms of collectability but in their design as well. They combine some of the best qualities of both old and new eras of Marshall, while capitalizing on the ’80s ascent into higher-gain territory.
This example is in great condition, showing only minor signs of previous wear and no significant blemishes to speak of. Parts-wise everything on the amp is original, aside from tubes. While this is optimal for collectibility it would be advised to change the original electrolytic caps before any prolonged or gigging use is done. Performance-wise, this amp has 100% of that legendary Jubilee sound we all know and love! The 50-watt 2550 is the more reasonable wattage version, offering plenty of power without overwhelming stages and rehearsal rooms, and this one absolutely delivers on the hype!
