Marshall Super 100JH Jimi Hendrix JTM45/100 Reissue Full Stack 2006, Black

The Marshall Super 100JH was released in 2005 as a painstaking recreation of the mid-’60s Super 100 “JTM45/100” amplifiers forever associated with Jimi Hendrix. Built as a limited edition of just 600 units, these were hand-wired in England and designed around the circuit and specifications of Hendrix’s original Marshall, offering a slightly different flavor from the later, more aggressive Super Leads of the ’70s. A neat feature of this special-edition amp is the use of custom Drake transformers, just like the originals. Historically, Marshall switched to Dagnall transformers in 1968, which became the standard for their 100-watt models going forward, giving the earlier Super 100 Drake-equipped amps a distinctly "Jimi" character.

The Super 100JH delivers the huge, open sound you would expect from an early 100-watt Marshall, with plenty of headroom, rich harmonic breakup, and that unmistakable vintage top end when pushed. Period-correct details and the distinctive tall head cabinet, along with the matching 1982AJH and 1982BJH cabinets, complete the package, making this as much a collectible piece of Marshall history as it is a serious amplifier. Even the speakers are special, with custom-made 25-watt Celestion G12Cs designed specifically for this model.

For the collector looking for an essentially untouched example of one of Marshall’s most ambitious Hendrix tributes, it would be difficult to find a better one.
