Description

There’s no exaggeration in saying that the 100-watt Plexi-panel Marshall is one of the most iconic amps in rock and roll history. This wonderful example dates to the first half of 1969, early in the JMP era when Marshall was still using five-digit serial numbers and solidifying its reputation as the go-to brand for performance-grade amplifiers, trusted by some of the greatest guitar players in history.

While this amp was modified at one time, it was restored to proper Super Lead specs by renowned amp builder Greg Germino. The preamp now features period-appropriate Iskra resistors and mustard caps, with the exception of a couple of modern silver mica caps that Greg prefers to use for tonal reasons. The filter caps and switches have also been updated, along with 1-ohm resistors added to the power tubes for ease of bias readings. Please see the circuit photos and specs for further details.

Despite showing a small amount of wear, this one has held up remarkably well, with only minor signs of previous use and minimal tolex blemishes. Also, it should be noted the amp did not come with a back panel, which actually helps for tube heat dissipation. Overall, this translates into a beast of a 100-watt Plexi, ready for another 50 years of serious use!
