The late ’50s were a great era for the Gibson GA-20, having just transitioned from octal preamp tubes to the more reliable 9-pin types (12AX7, etc.). People often compare these to Tweed Deluxes, and while you could certainly say the format is similar, the sound is distinctly its own, at a substantially lower price. This example has held up well for its age, showing light signs of previous wear that could simply be considered “vintage charm.” The baffle has been reinforced with additional pieces of wood, although players may still experience some cabinet rattle at more extreme volume settings.
