Description

This 1923 Gibson A-2 is a century-old mandolin with an understated dark finish and the elegant appointments of Gibson’s early A-style instruments. Its carved spruce top and maple back and sides give it the clear, projecting voice. This example has seen significant use over the years, with considerable player and finish wear around the bridge. A large back crack has been repaired with overspray, a brace has been reglued, and there is a smaller repaired top crack near the bridge along with a crack on the bass side of the bridge. One of the A-string tuners is also missing its flathead button.
