Description

This 1917 Gibson A-1 mandolin represents an early chapter in Gibson’s history of carved-top mandolin building. Its compact A-style body and carved construction reflect the design approach that helped establish Gibson as a major name in mandolin manufacturing. Heavy pick wear is present on the treble side of the top, with overspray covering the affected area and additional buckle rash on the back. A loose brace has been reglued, addressing a structural issue while preserving this century-old instrument for continued enjoyment.
