The Tweed Era Fender Princeton can be seen as an expanded version of the Champ, offering a larger cabinet size and adding a tone control to the circuit. This addition addresses the one weakness of the Tweed Champs—their tendency to sound a bit dark—by allowing you to brighten or mellow the sound to your preference. The 5F2-A is the latest version of the Tweed Princeton circuit and is widely considered the most desirable. Internally, the power cord has been replaced, and new set of electrolytic caps was re-housed in the cardboard from the original Astrons. Otherwise, all of the original resistors and coupling caps still remain. Thankfully, both of the original Triad transformers are still in place, along with the original 8" speaker, ensuring it retains that unmistakable vintage punch!
