Modifications/RepairsBlack Refinish (over factory black finish), Seymour Duncan bridge pickup (with evidence of slightly widened route but unaffected original guard), modern Mustang bridge, replacement jack, replacement trem arm and mute
In 1964, Fender was still in Pre-CBS production methods and the most expensive guitar one could buy was a custom color Jaguar. Although it was refinished with more black in later years, the original logo on the headstock (masked off at the time of added color), and the mint green guard denote that it likely started life as a rare factory black. The maple appears oversprayed, with checking below. It is unknown if the body was stripped completely on the body to create a new base layer, but the pocket is completely free of finish in order for the neck to seat properly. Black and mint green is a very cool color combo that pairs well with the dark brazilian rosewood fingerboard. A 90s Seymour Duncan was installed in the bridge position after some other pickup installed (with had a slight widening of the route -yet not enough to require a change to the pickguard). The bridge is a modern Mustang style replacement that looks era-correct and functions well. Overall, it a solid playing example that is a quarter of the price of an untouched Pre-CBS factory-black Jag.
