The Blackface Deluxe Reverb is held in legendary regard, especially in Nashville. It has the perfect format for gigging, with the ideal combination of tone, size, and volume. This amp has an interesting factory quirk, as the tube chart is stamped "PR," indicating June of 1968. However, judging by the transformer dates, pot dates, grill cloth, and the 1965 chassis stamp, this was likely a factory mistake. The amp also features FEIC Pre-CBS badging on the front and back, indicating it was built earlier in 1965. The ouput transformer has been replaced with an OEM 1985 Deluxe Transformer, which seems to do great justice to the original. The original speaker has been replaced with an unlabeled ceramic Eminence, which despite it's plain appearance sounds fantastic.
Internally, the power cord and electrolytic caps have been replaced, along with some power resistors. Most of the parts in the phase inverter have been changed, but the rest of the preamp remains original, retaining the "Blue Molded" Ajax coupling caps in the tone stack. Please refer to the circuit pictures for further details. The original reverb cables have also been replaced. Otherwise, the amp is in good condition, with vintage character that contributes to what makes these amps so special!
