We are honored to host this incredible piece of music history—a 1960 Fender Bassman once owned by the legendary Danny Gatton. Known for his virtuosic blend of country, jazz, and rockabilly, Gatton’s small collection of Fender amps played a crucial role in shaping his iconic sound, influencing modern country electric guitar playing to this day.
As one of his main gigging amps, Gatton famously remarked that he didn't use reverb with this Bassman: “If I turn it all the way up, it doesn’t need reverb!” Like all of his amps, it was serviced over the years, with minor value adjustments tailored to his playing preferences. However, the amp’s core components—the original Triad transformers and Jensen P10Q speakers—remain intact, preserving its fundamental Tweed era tone. While this particular Bassman leans slightly cleaner than some, it still carries the magic that defined Gatton’s signature sound.
Although made after his passing, this amp also includes a custom “Danny Gatton” cover from Rockin’ Gear. It was purchased directly from Gatton’s daughter, Holly, in 2006, as shown in the attached photos. A truly rare opportunity to own a legendary piece of guitar history!
