This 2025 Martin D-28/45 Gruhn Special combines the familiar D-28 platform with a collection of appointments drawn from Martin’s most ornate designs. Its Adirondack spruce top uses forward-shifted scalloped bracing, while Indian rosewood back and sides give the dreadnought a broad, resonant foundation. Style 28 herringbone body ornamentation is paired with a Style 45 CF Martin peghead inlay, along with snowflake and split-diamond fingerboard inlays for a particularly detailed presentation. A Performing Artist neck contour offers a comfortable modern feel, while open-back Grover tuners and a bone nut and saddle keep the hardware in keeping with the guitar’s traditional aesthetic. This Gruhn Special is a distinctive take on the D-28, bringing together understated herringbone trim and some of Martin’s more elaborate visual details in a single instrument. Cosmetically, it remains in excellent condition with no singnificant wear to note.
