This 1938 Martin 000-21 has made it through eight decades with its voice intact and a bit of well-earned wear to prove it. Structurally, it’s in excellent shape, thanks to a thoughtful round of repairs—a re-fret, neck reset, replaced bridge, and a few other tweaks that are more routine than dramatic at this age. The Brazilian rosewood back and sides serve up that classic dry shimmer, while the low end stays clear and open, with just enough air to let every note breathe a little. The tone has a kind of unhurried confidence—like it’s not trying to impress you, but probably will anyway. A beautiful example of a pre-war 000 that’s still very much in its prime. Comes with a vintage Lifton hardsehll case.
