When the Les Paul shape, we have come to know, was retired in 1960, the new modernist "SG" shape came to the scene. Hosting humbuckers, parrallelogram inlays, bound board, and inlaid heastock veneer, these were very classy solid body guitars of the time. 1963, the year this example was made, was great year for Gibson. The neck shapes are super comfortable (not the bladelike necks of earlier years). While the PAF was phased out, the core of its designed remained present in these early nickel Patent Sticker humbuckers. This example was used for rock and roll and has the scars of it; albeit well repaired. It has a descreetly repaired headstock break, jack crack repair, previous grovers, and various overspray (yet still lots of awesome checking). Several parts have been replaced: tuners, ABR, and a tone knob was given a replacement reflector. This guitar is about as cool as it gets.
