These new Murphy Lab Guitars are hitting on all eight cylinders these days. The look, the feel and, most importantly, the sound of these instruments is stunningly good. This '57 Les Paul Standard reissue does not disappoint on any of those three important levels. The gold color of the top is hard to get right on these guitars. There have been numerous reissue goldtops over the years with varying success as far as how the gold looked. These new guitars channel the look of the originals. Add a few years of oxidizing to the finish and they will be scary close to the originals. This guitar's an "Ultra-lite aged" model. That means no playing wear or abuse, just a few natural weather checks and a light bit of oxidizing to the finish and nickel parts. The neck is a nice, full feeling "C" shape that's very easy to get around on and feels great. Weight is totally in the ballpark at 8.6 pounds. And tone? The Custombucker pickups channel the early sounds of low-wind PAF glory. This one checks all the boxes! This instrument comes with the certificate, all the case candy and a very cool reissue Lifton style brown case.
