First introduced by Gibson in 1942, the J-45 set the standard for their slope-shouldered jumbo design, which was their response to Martin's dreadnought. Known for its straightforward spruce and mahogany construction and iconic sunburst finish, the J-45 earned the nickname “The Workhorse” for good reason. This guitar can handle almost anything you throw at it! Singer-songwriters appreciate its warm, balanced sound, which complements vocals perfectly, while the short scale suits both fingerpickers and strummers. Its wide dynamic range also makes it great for flatpicking.
This particular example shows considerable wear from years of playing but remains structurally sound. It is an outstanding player and an excellent example of a slope shoulder guitar from Gibson's golden era.
The repair history includes a neck reset, a refret, a cleated treble-side top crack along the fingerboard extension, a new saddle, replaced tuners, and replaced bridge pins.
