This 1952 Gibson J-185 is a heavily reworked example with a likely late-'60s factory refinish. The guitar has received a neck reset, refret, replacement tuners and nut, along with a reglue of the bridge, braces, and bridge plate, while a Plate Mate has also been added. Large cracks on both the top and back have been repaired, and the refinished Sunburst finish shows the history of this work. The J-185 was introduced in 1951 as a slightly smaller alternative to Gibson's larger SJ-200, using the same general maple-and-spruce construction and distinctive appointments.

Includes non-original hard shell case.
