It's been a while since CVG has hosted an early piece of Marshall history, and we're proud to present this wonderful JTM45 Block Logo from 1965. Aside from the aesthetics, the main distinction between this amp and the later Script Logo models is the use of early Drake transformers, which are unmarked and have the selector located on the transformer bell (see pictures for details). This amp has remained in excellent condition, showing only very minor signs of previous wear. Some of the back panel and chassis screws are newer, but the rest of the headshell is all original.
Internally, it has stayed very close to stock, retaining all of its original filter and coupling caps. The one preamp electrolytic on V1 has been replaced, and the slope resistor in the tone stack appears to have been swapped with a modern carbon comp equivalent, along with one older 500pf cap added to the 270k mix resistor. A resistor was also replaced in the bias section, likely to help bring the KT66 tubes within spec. Please refer to the circuit pictures for further details.
Overall, this is a superb-sounding amp in fantastic condition—sure to please both players and collectors alike!
Despite being fully functional the buyer should note this amp has long expired electrolytic capacitors. Should someone need prolonged or gigging use from this piece then servicing would be advised (cap job, etc).
